December 2022 - Volume 34 - Issue 12

• The monthly Booster Club Meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence was held for former Met Chuck Carr. Roll call was taken. All Officers, except Mary Ann Jones, were present.

• We welcomed guest speaker Doc Gooden, who expressed his appreciation to us as true fans. He let us know that he is doing very well with his sobriety and has been working with the NYPD helping kids at risk. He also thanked the veterans who were present for their service. After speaking on several subjects, including Old-timers Day, Doc answered questions from members. We thanked him for taking the time to meet with us, and thanked member and Fantasy-camper Ed Moore for helping to arrange Doc’s visit.

• The minutes of the October 17, 2022, meeting was read. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Joyce King and seconded by Bill Zuppe. Motion passed.

• The Treasurer’s Report was read by Judy Fitzgerald. A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as read was made by Stephen LaBargo and seconded by Roger Willis. Motion passed.

• Judy reported that we made nearly $2000.00 from the dinner. Jim thanked those who helped make it a success through prize donations, helping with set-up and by participating in the event.

• We presented Carol and Greg Wyatt from WPSL with a $250.00 donation, along with the toys brought in by members. They explained that in addition to providing gifts for needy children, Christmas Kids also support a water safety program and a back-to school clothes shopping experience for homeless children.

• The Mets will play Spring Training games against the World Baseball Classic teams from Nicaragua and Venezuela on March 8 and 9 respectively, and there are 4-night games on the home schedule.

• The bus trips to Miami are on Opening Day, Thursday, March 30 and Saturday, April 1. The cost is $80.00 per person and your payment is your reservation. Both games are at 4:10 p.m. and we will leave from the stadium at 12 noon.

• The Spring Gathering will be a BBQ event at Clover Park on Saturday, March 4. We will provide more information once we finalize the details.

• The Board recommended making donations of $500.00 each to the Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County, Hibiscus Children’s Center, and the Treasure Coast Food Bank. A motion to make the donations was made by Wilma Osterhoudt and seconded by Bill Zuppe. Motion passed.

• Please try to renew your membership at the December 12 meeting and enjoy a pizza party afterward. Remember that dues are now $15.00 per person, $20.00 for two in the same household and $25.00 for three or more. It is a good idea to pay the $12.00 per person for the 50/50 along with your dues, if you want to participate for the full year.

• We welcomed new members Jeffrey & Nicholas Ochmann, Joe McGowan and Janet Hampl.

• The name called for the 50/50 was Tom Pragliola, who was not present and won 50% of the pot.

• A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Sue Samson and seconded by Betty Brennan. The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat Urso, Secretary
